DESCRIPTION:

This script will download HP OpenView Operations Manager for UNIX (OVOU/OMU) configuration data in order to keep 2 servers synchronised, or to provide a backup of critical data.

• Runs on the HP OpenView Operations Manager for UNIX (OVOU/OMU) management server(s) only
• Downloads configuration data based upon a previously defined spec file
• Copies the downloaded data to another server - typically the DR/backup OV server
• It assumes you are regularly uploading configuration data from another OV server
  
• Generates status alerts based on the result of the download process
  
• The code has been tested on the platform described but is not guaranteed to work in your environment
• This document is intended to provide you with an example of what we have done, and what can be achieved with the tools mentioned

Works as advertised
We're running a "Pooled" server configuration with one Primary and one Secondary Operations Manager. We've been running the Protocol upload/download config scripts for several months now and they work well as a starting point. Because HP has left much of the Operations Manager product unfinished, and therefore much for the administrators to make up on their own, there's much that needs to be added to the script that Protocol couldn't have foreseen. That said, the scripts are very useful and a real time-saver, and have worked flawlessly for us. Well worth the modest expense.
