DESCRIPTION:
This script allows a user with sufficient access to disable or enable monitoring locally on a server.
- It triggers an opcmsg command to the OpenView Management server
- Auto-actions perform the enable or disable function
- The script only permits execution from a non-root user for audit purposes
- The script can only be run by someone with sufficient access to the script using sudo (editable)
- It can be used to temporarily disable and then enable monitoring for a given server
- Can be integrated into standard Unix scripts
- The code has been tested on the platform described but is not guaranteed to work in your environment
- This document is intended to provide you with an example of what we have done, and what can be achieved with the tools mentioned
